Electric Pagoda
A courtyard café and bar in Thamel, built in the gap between existing buildings.
The site is a courtyard behind a Thamel frontage — the kind of leftover ground that usually ends up as parking.
The scheme keeps the existing white building as the backdrop and treats the yard as the room: a gravel floor, a mature tree left in place, a bar built along one flank from stacked timber and steel, and loose seating that can be pushed around for a full night or a quiet afternoon. Festoon lighting is strung across the void to give the open courtyard a ceiling after dark.
